History  

Bansko is an exceptional  small town of authentic architecture from the Bulgarian Revival period. The town's history dates back from ancient times. According to legends and local tales, the founding of Bansko can be traced back to the period of Ottoman invasion (15th-16th century). Today, the town of Bansko is a unique combination of a modern mountain resort and a living rustic town with many cultural monuments and museums which add a historic ambience, blending perfectly with the facilities of a modern ski resort.

Bansko is certainly the most fast growing Bulgarian ski resort that has the best snow record and excellent ski runs. It is among the most preferred destinations for Winter season.
